Dinetia Newman is part of the Healthcare Practice Group and the Business Section. She represents hospitals and health systems, physicians, and ancillary service providers on regulatory issues and has counseled clients on state privacy requirements and HIPAA privacy issues since finalization of the HIPAA privacy regulations in 2003. Since 2004, Dinetia has spoken and written numerous times on privacy topics regarding the HITECH statute, the 2009 Interim Breach Notification regulations, the Omnibus HIPAA regulations and Mississippi privacy issues. She also served on the workgroup assisting the Mississippi Health Information Network (MS-HIN) in drafting policies and procedures and on law firm work groups in drafting employee training and security requirements and HITECH-compliant templates for clients’ use. Dinetia is the immediate past president of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA).
